January Project and Patch Set Giveaway

I saw this basic pattern in a historical full size Amish quilt years ago.  I love Amish quilts and I have always loved the simplicity of this pattern.  This quilt uses the 13 Square foundation from Miniatures in Minutes.  The pieced square section finishes at 6 1/2".

I’ll have the project posted on the projects page of my website either tonight or tomorrow.  First I need to remember how to add a new page to the website and link it up and all that fun stuff (2009 projects took up all the space on my projects page so I need to start another).  That could take a bit.  Fun stuff.

Meanwhile, I cut two sets of patches for this project (since, really, it’s just as easy to cut double).  If anyone is interested in the spare set, just let me know and I’ll mail it out.  I don’t mind shipping international.

Next up?  That pencil case . . .

  2. Oh, I love Amish quilts, love the simplicty, and design elements, they were making art quilts long before they were art quilts, I'm trying my hand at a few minitures, I've done one doll quilt (bars) and have started another (checkerboard). I'm going to check out that book you've mentioned thanks for sharing.

  7. I see that you too are getting into miniatures. Is this technique as easy as traditional paper piecing? I was a bit worried about using glue and what it would do with the machine. How have you found it!

  8. I have yet to try an Amish style quilt, although my sister bought me a book a few years back. I don't buy solids I guess. I'd love to get your other set, but feel a bit overwhelmed at that center being ONLY 6.5"!!!!! Yikes, those are small pieces! I'd love to have this hang in my sewing room as a reminder that I CAN do it!!!!

  15. Amish quilts are striking. I recently say one in a coin pattern that was so attractive. I finally got Roxanne's glue, so I'm ready to begin.

  18. I REALLY love Amish quilts and your colors would work fabulously in my newly painted room. I need to order your book, since I missed my Guild's miniature workshop I have been kicking myself. My dreams of finishing a quilt makes miniature quilts very appealing to me! I promise to take care of these squares!
